Installing XAMPP for Linux

Download XAMPP for Linux

Open terminal and download XAMPP 1.8.3 package using the following commands

For 32bit

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/xampp/files/XAMPP%20Linux/1.8.3/xampp-linux-1.8.3-2-installer.run/download

For 64bit

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/xampp/files/XAMPP%20Linux/1.8.3/xampp-linux-x64-1.8.3-2-installer.run/download

Change the XAMPP package installer to executable, then run installation with following commands

 sudo chmod +x xampp-linux-x64-1.8.3-2-installer.run 

 sudo ./xampp-linux-x64-1.8.3-2-installer.run 

The installation wizard will appear

Run the XAMPP installer

1- Click next to start the process

2- Choose the default settings and click next

3- Wait for the installation bar to finish

Using XAMPP for Linux

Launching XAMPP

To Start XAMPP use this command:

 sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start 

To Stop XAMPP use this command:

 sudo /opt/lampp/lampp stop 

By starting XAMPP it will launch the XAMPP Control Panel.

Selecting the Apache Web Server or MySQL Database and clicking the start button or simply the "Start All" button will enable them.

In checking your Apache web server, type localhost in your web browser

In checking your MySQL database, type localhost/phpmyadmin in your web browser
