What is the difference between a Staging server and a Production server?

Staging Server

The staging Server serves as a temporary hosting and testing server for any new software or websites.
This is  environment is normally a mirror of the production environment. The staging area is used for final stress testing before going live.In deploying an updated version of a website, the updates should be tested on the staging server.

Production Server

Once the website has passed the tests on the staging website and ready to go live a migration from the staging server to the production server is done. The Production server is the currently released version of the website, accessible to the public or its users. It hosts websites and Web applications that have undergone extensive development and testing before they are validated as production ready.
